The effect of glass fiber content of FRP sheet on the quality of the sheet

Mar 31, 2022

1. How to store the lighting panels?

The finished lighting panels should be placed in a dry and ventilated warehouse, not in the open air. Within one year of FRP sheet production, the chemical reaction has continued and the strength has been strengthened. After water absorption, it will affect the curing process of the board, the board will be flowered, affecting the light transmittance and appearance of the board, and in severe cases, the board will be scrapped

1.    The effect of glass fiber content of FRP sheet on the quality of the sheet?

Glass fiber is the reinforcing material of the lighting board, and it is the fundamental guarantee of strength and toughness. Today's lighting board production lines generally use two technologies: cut yarn or chopped strand mat. The cost of cutting yarn is low, and the adjustment is flexible during production. The disadvantage is that due to the production process, the glass fiber content of the plate is low, only 22 percent , so the strength of the plate is poor and the plate is brittle and easy to break. Cracks are easy to occur when fixing, and it is easy to cause water leakage problems. The cost of chopped strand mat is high, but the glass fiber content of the board can be relatively high, generally more than 30 percent , so the strength and toughness of the board are very good. Will not crack during handling and nailing. In the production of felts, the thicker products will be produced by stacking two or even three felts to meet the requirements of product thickness and glass fiber content. Clients may worry about tiering. This concern is unnecessary, and the same method is used in the automotive and aerospace industries to achieve strength. We have done a similar experiment: use 60 layers of 600G/M2 felt to make a product with a thickness of 80CM, and cut it along the thickness direction to do a strength test and there is no difference between the normal production board. In addition, due to the high resin content of the board produced by the cutting process, the flow of the resin will be thinner at the corners of the board during production, the thickness of the section will be uneven, and the thin position will be particularly vulnerable to damage. At the same time, the corner arcs of the plate shape are relatively large, which is quite different from the shape of the steel plate, and the overlap with the steel plate is not good.
